Tip: Papers I usually buy on Ebay or Origami Shop. Japanese books I tend to buy from CDJapan.

This is my own design! – On the weekend I had some free time and played around with some square papers. I wanted to come up with some modular star or wreath design. The Heleni Star looks pretty on the front and has a unique lense-like design on the back. So you can use it on both sides. I think the end result looks quite nice – that’s why I gave it the name of one of my daughters.

Materials

In order for you to complete the Origami Heleni Star you will need 8 paper squares. You can use Origami paper or even card stock. The paper will show on both sides on the front or only one side of the back. You can see from the pictures below if you want to go for mono – or duo colored paper. If you use 8.5 cm x 8.5 cm / 3.3 in x 3.3 in paper, your finished Heleni Star will measure 7.5 cm / 3 in in diameter. For a slightly bigger version I have used 15 cm x 15 cm / 6 in x 6 in paper, which results in a star with the diameter of 13 cm or 5.1 in.

The Origami Heleni Star is an easy Origami project. You can make it for yourself or as a present for a dear friend. You could also use it as an ornament. Watch the Origami tutorial video above to make your own!

For models like this one, I like to use Kami paper, but if I want more variety, I will use Duo paper!
