My personal notes: This is an old Tomoko Fuse book that has many interesting models ranging from 3, 4 and 6 sided modular origami boxes, as well as interesting frame boxes, origami quilts, stars, flowers and a few kusudama.

I was most intrigued by these frame boxes. I saw frame boxes before on the internet, but didn’t know that they actually originated from Tomoko Fuse. In this book, Fashionable Items Made with Unit Origami, she introduces 3, 4 and 6 sided frame boxes (first part of the frame box section). Some of them have some kind of stair tessellation as a decoration in the middle, some have flowers.

In the second part of the origami frame box section she concentrates on rectangular frame boxes. These can be combined with placing photographs into the frame.

Just like with many of these old and rare origami books, it’s most likely that you will only find a second hand copy. But as this book is already quite old, a lot of people in Japan sell their copies. If it’s not a super popular book, then you should be able to get a copy around $20.

The best place to buy these rare Japanese origami books is through Amazon. That’s what I do. It’s best to select book condition “Very Good” or “Good”. If the price rises, wait and monitor until it drops again.
