Let me show you a beautiful design I folded this week, the Origami Butterfly on Leaf by Tomoko Fuse. Original title: 葉にとまるチョウ1, Butterfly stuck in a leaf 1. You can find it in the book Origami Spiral Unit Folding by Tomoko Fuse, p. 32 or Spiral Origami Art Design by Tomoko Fuse, p. 89.

This is a one-sheet model that uses various angles to achieve this beautiful origami leaf with a butterfly. You might struggle a bit first time folding it until you figure out how this model works.

This is not only a beautiful origami model but can be used as an origami envelope to give as a gift. Just make sure that the person who receives it knows how to close it again. 😉

Try to be as accurate as possible with every step, otherwise the wings of the butterfly won’t be symmetrical.

You have two options to display your finished work: leave the wings sticking out from the flat paper to give it a 3d look. Or press your work underneath some heavy books for a day. In my pictures you can see the difference. The pink one was placed under some books for a few days.
